Farhan Firdaus, Partner at Meet Ventures, is a Venture Builder with a proven track record previously as a Series B startup COO and as Head of Venture Building for an ASEAN-focused agriculture investment firm.

As an experienced venture builder and startup advisor, Farhan has mentored hundreds of startup founders in programs run by 500 Startups, TechStars and SeedStars.

Farhan is also active in the academic scene, having been invited as a Guest Lecturer at leading universities such as NUS Business School and Singapore Institute of Technology. He is also a Technopreneurship Scholar at Nanyang Technological University and an Advisory Board Member at the Singapore Polytechnic School of Business and King’s College London Entrepreneurship Society. In 2021, Farhan was appointed to the Singapore Ministry of Education’s Committee for Review on Applied Education.

An emerging thought leader, Farhan was recognised by the European Commission as a EUVP Young Leader and was also awarded the Free-Market Humanitarian Award by the UK Trade Board Advisor, The Right Honorable Lord Hannan. Farhan was also invited as a panelist alongside Minister Ong Ye Kung for the Channel News Asia (CNA) Panel on “Economic Disruptions in the Future Economy”.

An active advocate for green building and sustainability for over two decades, Esther has been instrumental in establishing CDL’s global leadership in sustainability since 1995. Ranked top real estate company on the 2021 and 2022 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, CDL was the first Singapore company to publish a dedicated sustainability report in 2008 and issued a green bond in 2017. It became the first real estate company in SE Asia to pledge for World Green Building Net Zero carbon building commitment in February 2021.

She was conferred the 2018 SDG Pioneer for Green Infrastructure and A Low Carbon Economy by the UN Global Compact for her advocacy of UN SDGs. An UNGC Caring for Climate network signatory, she sits on the boards or advisory platforms of leading organizations including World Green Building Council, Global Reporting Initiative, UN PRI Real Estate Advisory Committee, UN ESCAP Sustainable Business Network Executive Council, Urban Land Institute Sustainability Product Council, GRESB Foundation, Asia Pacific Real Assets Association, and Singapore Institute of Directors’ ESG Committee.

Ms Jean Tan

Jean Tan is the Executive Director of the Singapore International Foundation (SIF), a nonprofit dedicated to international peacebuilding and development. Prior to joining the SIF, she worked in the ministries of Manpower, Information and the Arts, and Foreign Affairs in its office in Washington DC. Jean is a graduate of the National University of Singapore and was awarded the Singapore Government Merit Scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in the United States, as well as programmes overseas in executive and non-profit management. In her spare time, Jean volunteers on the boards of Forum, a global network of volunteer-driven development agencies and the Global Public Diplomacy Network as a founder member. She also serves on the boards of SG Enable, an agency dedicated to serving persons with disabilities, and Cycling Without Age, a charity set up to reduce social isolation among the elderly.

Ms Lalitha Bhaskara

Lalitha is the VP of SAP.iO foundries for Asia Pacific Japan & China. She is responsible for the network of top-tier startup programs in these regions that incubates startup innovation to strategically expand SAP’s ecosystem around SAP data sets, technologies, and APIs, provide access to customers and direct investments into early stage startups in areas strategic to SAP.

Prior to joining SAP, Lalitha was Vice President, Strategy and Operations for APJ for Workday where she was instrumental in building Business operations, Inside sales & Value management teams to drive early market entry, GTM strategy and execution for APJ markets. Before joining Workday, Lalitha led Corporate and Business Development teams at Akamai driving M&A, Strategic partnerships & Start-up initiatives.

Previous to Akamai, Lalitha was head of Markets Strategy for APJ in SAP Corporate Strategy team leading and defining strategic initiatives like country growth plans, go-to-market / new market entry, integration & monetization of innovations and acquisitions for APJ markets. Before that she was a product designer of material handling systems.

Lalitha spends her free time in makerspaces helping high school students design and make products. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a dual MBA in General Management from Anderson School of Management, UCLA and National University of Singapore.

MS Abby Ng

Abby is an independent consultant who advises in the domain of built environment sustainability and design. Previously a Deputy Director of parks developments at National Parks Board, she designed and implemented more than 20 park projects, which is instrumental to fulfilling Singapore’s vision as City in a Garden, and now, City in Nature. A BCA young leader since 2018, she drives innovation adoption in the built environment, and is well versed with technology and industry development in diverse sectors including energy, waste and circular economy, urban agriculture, mobility, decarbonisation, nature-based solutions, sustainable building materials and smart cities.

Mr Aaqib Alvi

Aaqib has spent nearly a decade in the skills development space and leads the design of technology upskilling and reskilling programs that are currently being rolled out in 10 countries. Seeing the need for AI skills in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Aaqib acquired the desired skills through Data Science specialization and is involved in developing national AI programs for non-technical audiences, globally. He is keen to create meaningful learning journeys that can excite and engage participants. Always ready to look from the perspectives of learners, he excels in creating inquiry-based learning environments allowing all learners to be engaged actively.

Mr Christopher Leow

Christopher Leow is an Urban Farmer with EGC. He has a background in sustainable food systems, having worked in restaurants, grocers, and farms in Ireland and Australia and Japan He had started various agriculture and food concepts in Singapore, such as Citizen Farm and The Muffinry.

Mr Darren Tan

Heads the Education and Community Outreach efforts

ComCrop

Darren Tan heads the Education and Community Outreach efforts at ComCrop, which is Singapore’s first and only SFA-licensed rooftop greenhouse farm. In his role, he ensures the continuity of knowledge to the next generation of farmers, as well as help the farm stay relevant and supportive of the community they are in. With a science background, he keeps the farm up to date with developments in plant growth technology.

Having completed the ‘Leading Sustainable Corporations’ programme by Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, he is able to offer executive-level perspective on business sustainability, looking beyond traditional views of measuring and reporting on performance, to integrate environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors into business practices. Combined with experiences in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in various roles as an educator in a local Secondary School prior to joining ComCrop, he is able to provide balanced perspectives on the unique context that Singapore faces in the areas of environmental sustainability and food security.

In 2017, he was awarded the YSEALI (Young South-East Asian Leaders Initiative) Professional Fellowship by the U.S. Department of State, representing Singapore on an exchange to the US focusing on environmental sustainability. He was nominated to be part of the Our Singapore Leaders Programme (OSLP) in 2018, an apex leadership programme for young adult leaders across the 3P Sector to develop a network of high potential young Singaporeans. Passionate about sustainability and food systems, he is part of the MSE-NYC Youth Circles, a group of youth-centred leaders who work closely with the two agencies in matters ranging from ground-up initiatives to co-deliberation of upcoming policies, in addition to sharing youth perspectives for informed decision making.

Previously one of the pioneer employees of Carro, she also specializes in the topics of partnerships, marketing and go-to-market for early stage startups.

Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity

Karl is an aspiring botanist. Inspired by the pioneer naturalists, he has embarked on many biodiversity-related projects and is aka the ‘Plant Doctor’. His main interests lie in biodiversity, plants and youths. He co-founded the Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity (IG @sgyouthvoicesbiod) and is also the Singapore Chapter Coordinator of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN). Ultimately, he hopes to create a better world for all.

Ms Mary Ann Franco

Dr Mary Ann Q. Franco is Research Fellow at the Energy Studies Institute. Her academic research includes energy security, renewable energy technology development in Southeast Asia, and science, technology and society (STS) studies. Her current research focuses on how energy-poor communities in developing countries adopt clean energy technologies to achieve sustainable development. Specifically, she studies the impact of renewable energy (RE) on energy access and equity of off-grid, remote and coastal communities in the Philippines. A part of her RE portfolio looks at the societal and policy implications of relatively novel RE technologies, like marine renewables, in island communities.

She previously worked at the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University (ERI@N) as the Lead Coordinator of two major programmes: Southeast Asian Collaboration for Ocean Renewable Energy (SEAcORE) and the Joint PhD-Industry Programme. SEAcORE has been the official technical working group on offshore and marine RE in Southeast Asia under the ASEAN Centre for Energy. It is a platform for various stakeholders (academia, government, and industry) to drive and advance the research, development and deployment (RD&D) of ocean energy in Southeast Asia.

She has also been involved in different energy-related RD&D projects funded by international universities and government agencies across Southeast Asia. Her findings have been published in top-ranked academic journals. She completed her MSc in Asian Studies from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, NTU and her PhD in Political Science from the National University of Singapore.

Ryan Han is a Design Strategist and Practitioner at Mandai Wildlife Group, an organisation committed to providing world-class animal care. It is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, home to Singapore’s world-renown award-winning wildlife parks, Mandai Nature and Mandai Global.

Industrial Design by training, Ryan has over 15 years of experience ranging from product design to design strategy. At Creative Technology, Ryan has been recognised with patents and design awards. In 2015, Ryan joined SingHealth, Innovation Group. The team has designed facilities that address innovative care delivery methods and future-focused adaptability that reshape, redefine healthcare. At DBS, Group Transformation Office, Ryan drives the bank’s innovation agenda across key growth segments. Working with internal stakeholders and external collaborators that focus on nurturing an innovation culture for one of the largest fintech companies.

In his current role at Mandai Wildlife Group, Transformation Office. Ryan is the internal champion for accelerating and scaling innovation to drive Transformation to achieve the triple bottom line of Planet, People and Performance. He leads Mandai Open Innovation Lab that drives the application of Innovation behaviours, knowledge and tools. Bringing in relevant partners to leverage their experience. Fostering new ways to experiment and pioneer breakthrough technology and new business models that deliver impact at scale.

Zijian is a design thinking practitioner, an environmental activist and a strategic analyst, working at the cross section of blockchain tech, climate change and government policy. Come speak with him to hear unique perspectives for companies to step into the world of web3, NFTs and DAOs.

His work in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (Singapore) focuses on understanding and adaptating the island nation to the effects of climate change, namely Climate Science, Coastal Protection and Urban Heat.

He worked in the National Environment Agency (Singapore), dealing in Waste Management and business transformation. Prior to that, he helped build Singapore’s startup ecosystem with the Infocomm Investment Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of IDA.

Ms Monorom Tchaw

Compost City

Monorom Tchaw is a believer of more recognition, empathy and gratitude towards the people, resources and laws of the universe that enable our existence on this planet.

She accidentally founded Compost City after the project won the Impact Hub Phnom Penh’s 2019 SmartSpark competition focused on environmental solutions and got seed funding to grow the initiative.

Today, Compost City sells a ready-made balcony composting system, partly as a concrete tool for urban households to take care of their own kitchen waste, and mostly as an excuse to make people reconnect and fall in love with soil and life.

Monorom has been living in Cambodia for over 6 years. She was born and raised in France and her parents are from Cambodia. She gets excited about sharing and tasting any homemade food, cycling, soil life, Non-Violent Communication and learning about other people’s quirks and values.

Ms Lameya Alam

Regional Dialogue and the Fellowship Programme Consultant,

UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub

Lameya Alam is a Youth Advocate from Bangladesh supporting young people to achieve greater impact for the SDGs. She is a social gardener, community builder and facilitator working for youth empowerment, gender equality and climate change. She is currently working with young climate activists across Asia-Pacific through YECAP, an initiative established in 2020 as a safe and inclusive space for youth across Asia and the Pacific to meaningfully engage in climate action.

Lameya is the Co-Founder of SHWARUP, a youth-led community platform dedicated to strengthening youth empowerment and expanding opportunities for the underserved by enacting the SDGs. She also laid the foundation of the Movers programme in Bangladesh, and as a Movers Envoy, she has directly trained over 2300 young people in line with the SDGs and 21st Century Skills in the last year. Lameya has a master’s degree in International Relations from Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh.

When she is not working, she volunteers at a local community school to teach youngsters basic English and travels to learn about new cultures.
